About the Capitol Area Council

Welcome to the Capitol Area Council, Boy Scouts of America! If this is your first contact with Scouting, “Be Prepared” to have a lot of fun and learn plenty about yourself. Scouting encourages young people and adults to become leaders and make their world a better place. Give us a little time, and we’ll give you experiences and memories that you’ll treasure for the rest of your life.

If you’re getting reconnected to Scouting, you’ll find a council ready to expand and prosper. We boast seven different council-owned camps that offer everything from low-impact hiking and backpacking… to a pine-covered hideaway on the shores of Lake Bastrop… to a wilderness fort, Native American village and treasure hunting adventure that are sure to capture the imaginations of young Scouts. If you’d like to learn more about our future plans, please read through the council’s Strategic Plan and Properties Master Plan.

Take your time and look through this website. If you need information about joining one of our Scouting units – including names, numbers and email addresses of our professional staff - look under the “Scouting” section. If you want to learn more about our camps and special programs, look under “Camping and Events”. We take pride in providing full training for all of our volunteers and leaders, and you’ll find information about that in the “Training” section. Scouting wouldn’t happen without your support, and we invite you to learn about different ways to help in the “Giving” section.

We are proud to call Texas our home. We are proud of this council. We will keep working hard for the young people we serve now - and the ones we’ll serve in the future. It is our honor, and our privilege.

Yours in Scouting,

J.T. Dabbs
Scout Executive

Winston Krause
Council President
